Andy (Andrea) Conroy
March 09, 2012
Recently the life of a wonderful mother, family member and close friend was senselessly lost in the murder-suicide in Airdrie. You may have seen it on the news or read about it on the internet. This tragic event has left many of us shaken, angry and saddened by her loss.
Andy was a dedicated mother, professional and athlete who enriched the life of everyone who knew her. Those of us who were privileged to have known and played sports with her knew she made playing more than just a sport. Andy made it fun and allowed us to enjoy the experience whether it be winning or losing. She had a smile that would light up the court and an infectious laugh that often left us laughing too hard to play. We are all better people for having known her.
Andy was a genuine person that would do anything for anyone and we would like to give back to Andy as she leaves behind a loving family including her wonderful 7 year old daughter, Danielle.
There will be a memorial volleyball tournament held for Andy at Rally Pointe on March 24-25 and numerous other events including fitness competitions and softball tournaments which will continue to help bring awareness and create resources in the fight against abuse.
All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to a trust fund that has been set up for Danielle. We hope to continue this for some time and will be donating proceeds from the online auctions to Danielle’s fund and various charities to aid in the fight against abuse of any sort.
The volleyball tournament was initially intended to award cash prizes to the winners in each division, however due to two acts of immense generosity, all proceeds will be donated to Danielle’s trust fund. Cathi Agar, the tournament organizer has decided to contribute all proceeds and Bruce Edwards, the General Manager of Rally Point volleyball complex has waived the court fees (approximately $2800)
I am asking that if you are able to donate any prizes or money to the trust fund, please reply or give me a call to discuss what may be appropriate.
We will be launching the AndreaConroy.com website with additional information and auction items for bidding next week so any contributions to the auction or bids would be wonderful. In appreciation, First Impression Media will gladly provide your company the dollar value of any contribution you donate in free services. We understand that many of you may not be able to make a donation, so we ask you to forward this email to anyone who may interested in supporting this wonderful cause.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Marc Brown
